Statement provided by Gracie Spinks family for the media conference outside Chesterfield Coroners Court on the 30th October 2023.
This was the first day of the Coroner’s Inquest and the statement was read to the media by the family’s solicitor Sajad Chaudhury of Harewood Law.
We can only hope that this inquest is the start of national recognition for the urgent need to change UK Policing and Stalking legislation, because we need to believe that from each bad act in life, comes good and positive change.
Our beautiful Gracie was snatched away from us by a coward who was unwilling to face the consequences of his unthinking actions. We cannot hold him to account. We have had no closure. The inquest will enable the nation to hear the distressing facts as to how and in what circumstances Gracie was killed. The events leading up to Gracie’s death and her interactions with the police in reporting her Stalker are in our, view shocking. Gracie’s concern to the end was protecting other women.
Gracie was another young beautiful woman who was unnecessary killed.
Without changes to UK national Policing and Stalking legislation we believe Gracie’s death will have been in vain.
We take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us to date and to those who will now follow Gracie’s Story.
